Là Glas

Last Friday was Là Glas or Green Day (for all of us that cannot comprehend it) and we all had to dress up as certain Irish things like TY was Leprechaun`s (see pic). Each year got a thing they were supposed to be (like Farmers or rugby players), we all brought in €2 which was going to go to good causes.
All in all it was a good day and I hope everyone enjoyed their Paddy`s weekend :)

Scifest..... :)

Last Friday we had our in school Scifest Competition and it was a whole lot of chaos.

My group were doing "the affects of amputation on swimming" in the morning we had to stick the final pieces of our project together then stick it up on the wall, we then got our table ready for when the inspector came round which consisted on all of us bringing in a swimming costume a hat and goggles to impassive what our project was about.
We were all very nervous when the judges started to come round but after the first one came and went we had gotten pretty used to what the judges would ask us and was ready for what the others could throw at us,   it was a long day but in the end it was worth it because our group got through to the next round of the competition which is on the 8th of may (or around that) .

Good Luck to anyone competing :)

Our project on Conflict: The London Riots

During the Week me, Hasana and Helena had to do a project about conflict.

We decided to do our project on The London Riots because they weren't that long ago and they were so so close to home.

Last Friday we had the annual Lollipop day which is supporting the Oesophageal Cancer Fund.
We got to the school and were given a hat and a t-shirt saying lollipop day and what we were having it for, We got on the bus and went into town.
After getting lost a few times we finally found the centre we were supposed to be at and there we got our collection boxes which contained stickers, lollies, badges and informational cards explaining what Oesophageal cancer fund is and the symptoms that come with it
I was with Sarah Quinlan  and Bennery Quinn (two blogs you should DEFO check out) and we were on Baggot`s St, we raised at least fifty euro and I ended up rapping the song lollipop (see down below) to attract peoples attention.
All in all it was a good yet VERY cold day but I enjoyed myself greatly happy to raise funds for a just cause.

Drum Roll Please.......

Yesterday we had our drumming workshop with a man called Dave, we learnt how they were made and how the people use them in festivals and in protests in their country.
We then started learning how to use the drums and which  ones you could use a stick one and others that you just had to use your hands, after that we started learning routines that the man Dave had been taught when he was over in Africa.
We then learnt a routine and preformed it so as we ll had turns on different drums, over all it was a good day.

Mini Company Judging day.....

Yesterday we had our Mini Company Enterprise judging competition and it was very nerve racking.
Yesterday morning me, Hasana, Helena, Meadhbh and  Elaine went into our P.e hall and started setting up our stall which we displaying our Mini Company which is called Xperss Yourself. We make personalised T-shirts for boys and girls.
We stared off by setting up our presentation on the computer we brought in which explained what our  company was about, then we got all of our products out. This consisted of four t-shirts we have made and placing them on the table  beside the report we had made and also on the boards we had been given to set up our stall with Velcro.
We then placed out or sign that said Xpress Yourself on the board with string and made sure that it was visible to see from far away.
We then had to go up to the judges and explain what our mini company was which was AWFUL, not because it went bad but because I was absolutely freaked out and nervous, after all the the companies had gone up the judges then presented the awards.

WE WON AN AWARD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol for best Display out of class Cairdeas (my T.Y class <3 ) we were all very chuffed.

GOOD LUCK to anyone who is through to the next round :)

Welcome Back.

Welcome back everybody !
If you`re looking at the screen going "Wish I was back in bed right now instead of being in school" I totally agree with you ;).

It`s the second day back at school and already I`m exhausted, I`ve had my tests back and I`m altogether happy with my results which means I can read Fan-fiction in peace (hehehehehehehe), I`m making a denim teddy bear in home Ec which (fingers crossed) will turn out ok and also cooking with my partner in Home Ec  making Scones.

JUNK KOUTURE IS OVER !!!!

After what felt like a year our fashion show has finally arrived, It was the day that we show off all the hard work we have been doing over the last thirteen weeks.
Me and my partner Hasana. B. Hare decided to make our dress out of bottle caps and rings off of cans and make a short at the front long at the back dress that was made out of a ripped recyclable parachute that was given to us by one of Hasana`s mums friend.
We spent most of our Art, Home Ec and  T.y Art Design firstly hammering nails into the bottle caps, painting the bottle caps and then sowing them onto the dress, I can honestly say I`m glad it`s done because it was so mind numbingly annoying having to day in day out just sow these bottle caps onto the parachute.
So the day of the fashion show came, we were all nervous but excited, there was a mad rush to get all the make up hair and accessories on and to give the older students our assigned song that we wanted to play when walking down the wakway.
All in all it was a fun day and I was very happy with our dress.

Merry Christamas and a Happy New Year. xxx
